Hammonton police responded to two incidents involving residents falling due to teh icy conditions Monday.
The first call came just after 9 a.m. to Cottage Avenue for a 50-year-old woman who slipped on the ice and struck her head.
When officers arrived, the woman was having difficulty remaining conscious, according to the report.
Patrol officers helped Emergency Medical Services clear a path due to a steep, icy hill making access difficult.
They used a Reeves flexible stretcher to transport the woman.
A second call came just before 10:30 a.m. to 15th Street for an elderly man who had fallen.
The 94-year-old man who was conscious and alert.
Officers helped EMS carry the man due to the icy conditions.
Hammonton police commended Patrol Officers Heiser, Ramirez and Lawler for their professionalism, teamwork and dedication in assisting these residents under hazardous conditions.
"We remind all residents to use extreme caution during icy weather, take preventative measures to reduce the risk of slips and falls, and check on elderly neighbors and family members during severe weather events," police said.
