MARGATE - The Holtzman Gallery at Katz JCC has mounted a new solo exhibit featuring fine art and illustrations by Gordon Kibbee. The free exhibit on display in the lobby gallery of the Marjorie and Lewis Katz, 501 N. Jerome Ave., runs daily through April 2.
A Meet and Greet with the artist will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12. The event includes wine and light fare.
The exhibition, “DREAM PORTALS: A Vision Into the Surreal World of Life in the Eyes of Gordon Kibbee…Past, Present and Future,” and the meet and greet are free and open to the public. All of Kibbee’s artworks will be available for acquisition.
Gordon Kibbee, a freelance illustrator from the early 1960s to about 2000, created artwork for many advertising agencies, newspapers, corporations, studios and magazines, such as TV Guide, Redbook, Saturday Evening Post, Playboy, Venture, Ranger Rick.
He also created artwork for record albums and paperback book covers. Kibbee was nominated for a Grammy award for his album cover artwork on "Baroque Fanfares and Sonatas for Brass.” Additionally, he illustrated a series of childhood stories that were written by close friend and highly regarded writer, humorist, and radio and TV personality Jean Sheppard.
Kibbee has written and illustrated two of his own unique children’s books with a quintessentially personal take on life in the cosmos.
Gallery hours are 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Firday; and 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
