ATLANTIC CITY - Capella Studio at St. Monica Parish, 15, N. California Ave., is holding its first Open House 2-6 p.m. Saturday, March 21. The Lenten Encounter Through Sacred Art will feature a lecture by Anthony Visco on St. Francis of Assisi and a sacred art sculpture demonstration by renowned Maryland artist Rick Casali.
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the former convent, which is being converted into a sacred art retreat center that will offer workshops and semester-length courses taught by renowned artists. The studio features a restored adoration chapel, two large classrooms and 17 bedrooms/studios.
Visco created the artwork for two national shrines - Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin and St. Rita of Cascia in Philadelphia.
Casali will teach a sculpture workshop at Cappella Studio, July 16-18. Those who attend the open house will have the opportunity for early registration.
