MARGATE - Tracey Blake-Rossell of Margate has been training gymnasts of all ages, backgrounds and levels at her 8,000 square foot facility in Northfield for the last 39 years.
This year, Blakes Gymnastics Training Academy will host its “Soar at the Shore” USAG/USAIG regional competition April 11-12 at the Eugene A. Tighe Middle School and the Dominick A. Potena Performing Arts Center in Margate.
The competition will spotlight talented teams from across South Jersey and the tristate area. Parents, friends and fans will get an up-close view as the athletes showcase their skills and literally “soar” through the air. Gymnasts as young as 6 years old will perform at USA Gymnastics Levels 2-7, and USAIG levels will compete with routines on the floor, beam, bars and vault.
Blake-Rossell said the competitions will be “jaw dropping.”
“Tighe School and the Performing Arts Center, provide excellent settings for both athletes and supporters with their spectator friendly layout.” she said. “People don’t realize the depth of gymnastics talent that there is in South Jersey. The athletic skill required to flip, tumble, and leap through the air comes from rigorous training paired with strong sportsmanship and confidence. It’s an amazing experience for spectators of all ages to see all of this come together in beautifully choreographed routines.”
Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for senior citizens and children ages 3-13. Children ages two and under are free. Pay at the door with cash or Venmo.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Free parking is available at the PAC parking lot at the rear of the Tighe School, 7998 Monmouth Ave.
A lifelong gymnast, Blake-Rossell competed from a young age and achieved the elite Level 10 Gymnast distinction and in 2019 she was inducted into the Indiana Women’s Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
