The Ventnor City Water and Sewer Department is currently flushing fire hydrants, which could cause discoloration of water.
The water is not contaminated but contains iron and sediment particles being flushed from the system. Residents are advised they should let the water run until it runs clear, and avoid doing laundry, especially white loads.
Residents who are concerned, should:
• Run the cold water for 10–20 minutes until it clears up
• Avoid using hot water while it’s cloudy so the sediment does not infiltrate your water heater
• Avoid doing laundry until the water is clear to avoid staining clothes
