ATLANTIC CITY - While the concert at Dante Hall may have been sold out, the city missed the mark on the fourth annual DylanFest held Saturday, Aug. 15 in the Ducktown section. The opening party street fair just didn't happen.
Organizers said the event, which should have attracted beatniks and hippies old and new, was not embraced and promoted by the city like it should. Although DylanFest promoted the street fair as an opportunity to stroll the Ducktown neighborhood and enjoy all things Dylan, there were no sidewalk displays or vendors and the atmosphere was less than festive for Dylan devotees.
Sidewalk chalk beckoned pedestrians to the Arts Garage, where they were welcomed by musicians playing Bob Dylan music. Small nibbles and refreshments were offered and an exhibit of Bob Dylan artwork was set up on a table and portable kiosk.
An evening concert at Dante Hall Theater, a restored 240-seat theater, featured several musical acts performing songs written by the troubadour, including Just Like the Women, the 5 Believers and Bottle of Bread.
