Police issue traffic advisory ahead of Saturday's Atlantic City Triathlon

ATLANTIC CITY - Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of the ninth annual Atlantic City Triathon being held Saturday, Aug. 10 on local roadways leading to Atlantic City.

The event, which starts at Bader Field, includes a quarter-mile swim, 11-mile bike ride along Rt. 40 and AC Expressway, and 5K run on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.

Atlantic City will experience major traffic delays throughout the day as the extreme athletes will be navigating the water and roads in and around Atlantic City.

Police advise allowing extra time to get to your destination.

Below is a list of road closures and detours. Officers will be positioned throughout the course.

• Atlantic City Expressway Exits 5, 4 and 2 will be closed 5-11 a.m.


• U.S. Route 40/Albany Avenue, expect delays 7-11 a.m.


• Plan to enter and exit Atlantic City via the Atlantic City Expressway


• Ventnor residents should use West End/Welllington Avenue as an alternate route
