Ventnor City Fire Chief Michael Cahill said the building at 6512 Ventnor Avenue that burned in a fire Saturday, July 6 is unsafe and will be demolished.
VENTNOR Firefighters responded at 5 a.m. Saturday morning to the report of a house fire on the 6500-block of Ventnor Avenue. Upon arrival firefighters found heavy smoke and flames emitting from the third floor rear of the frame and brick structure, which is located in a commercial district. According to Ventnor City Fire Chief Michael Cahill, the fire started in the rear of the building, which is frame construction and spread throughout the interior.

A third alarm was put out and about 80 firefighters from Margate, Longport, Atlantic City, Brigantine and Pleasantville responded.
No injuries were reported, and the 3rd Platoon brought the blaze under control by 7 a.m. under the command of Lt. Thomas Grimley.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and won't be known until next week, Cahill said.
"The building was a total loss. It's unsafe for the surrounding structures. It will be evaluated and will be demolished later today," he said shortly after noon.
The street between Newport and New Haven avenues will remain closed as the building is cleared.
