MAYS LANDING - Atlantic County Sheriff Eric Scheffler put out an alert for the public today announcing that another phone scam is making the rounds.
The scammers are telling people that they have outstanding warrants and must contact them back to post bail.
Scheffler said the Sheriff's Office only accepts cash bail in person.
He said anyone who receives such a call should never provide credit/debit card numbers or gift card information over the phone. On occasion detectives, who have established relationships with people in certain cases, may contact them by phone if they have a warrant.
Anyone who unsure if the phone call is legitimate, should immediately contact the Atlantic County Sheriff's Office at 609-909-7200 to verify the information.
