Check of suspicious activity results in alleged theft arrest in Longport

LONGPORT Police investigating the report of suspicious activity arrested an Egg Harbor Township man they say stole a bicycle and tools from a construction site.

According to a press release, Alan Ramirez-Baquiro, 30, of Egg Harbor Township, was taken into custody at the Longport Police Department, where he was processed and charged with multiple counts of theft. Public Information Officer Ray Burgan said the investigation is ongoing.

According to Burgan, it was 4:43 p.m. Thursday, June 20 when patrol officers advised dispatchers that they were investigating suspicious activity in the vicinity of 29thand Atlantic avenues. A male was identified as one of three people involved in a motor vehicle stop that took place an hour earlier. The male said he was unable to locate his friend and his last known location was 22ndAvenue.

About 10 minutes later, Ptl. Wright located the friend, later identified as Ramirez-Baquiro, at 14thand Atlantic avenues. Police said he was found to be in possession of a stolen bicycle and contractor's tools removed from a nearby construction site.
