Changes announced in polling locations for Nov. 5 election

  • Downbeach

Minor changes are in store for Downbeach voters in the Nov. 5 general election.

The entrance to a polling location in Margate has changed, and work being done in commission chambers at Borough Hall necessitates moving the location of the polls in Longport.

According to Margate City Clerk Johanna Casey, the entrance to the polling location for Margate District 1 at the Eugene A. Tighe Middle School has changed. Instead of entering the school on Amherst Avenue, voters will enter the building at Door No. 19 located on Monmouth Avenue.

It will be ADA compliant, more convenient for everyone and there's plenty of parking available in the parking lot, Casey said.

The voting machines will still be located in the gym, she said, just the entrance door has changed.

There will be an ADA compliant ramp installed at Door No. 19, which will provide easier access for the handicapped and infirm.

Work to remediate a mold problem that developed in commission chambers at Longport Borough Hall required Borough Clerk Monica Kyle to obtain permission from Atlantic County government to move the location of polling to the Longport Volunteer Fire Department building next door to Borough Hall if necessary. The borough is in the process of getting the mold problem address, and if the room is still being renovated on Election Day, the location of the polls will move next door to the Firehouse, which is located behind the Longport Historical Society Museum.

Voters should check their ballots when they arrive in the mail to confirm their polling locations.

There are no changes in Ventnor.
