Field Medical Station opens in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY - The Atlantic City Convention Center reached the final step in opening as one of the state's Field Medical Stations as NJ Gov. Phil Murphy, along with the NJ Department of Health and other state, county and local officials, toured the facility earlier this morning.

As owner of the building, Casino Reinvestment Development Authority Executive
Director Matt Doherty was along for the tour and commended Gov. Murphy and his team for their efforts in finding solutions during this crisis.

CRDA is following the Governor's leadership on COVID-19, and is proud to partner with our local stakeholders and the State during this time of need to create vital hospital capacity space to help New Jersey's residents during these unprecedented times, Doherty said.

The FMS is not a walk-in facility. Patients must meet criteria established by the NJ Department of Health and will be relayed to the site from the hospital. The facility will be staffed by both civilian and military medical professionals, including medical personnel from the Department of Defense and the New Jersey National Guard. Local labor was used to build the facility.

The FMS will be used to treat patients who require medical care and will help expand the overall capability of the state's hospital system.
