ATLANTIC CITY - AtlantiCare held its annual Community Health Fair Friday, Aug. 14 outside of the William L. Gormley HealthPlex on Atlantic Avenue.

More than 200 people showed up during the two-hour community outreach event to obtain information and resources from various health agencies. To go meals were distributed, and vendor agencies provided information about housing, the availability of no-cost or low-cost health insurance, financial assistance and other support services.

The theme for the event, which is held annually to celebrate National Health Center week, was "Community Health Centers: Lighting the way for Healthier Communities Today and in the Future."

The event is usually held with much fanfare, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was somewhat scaled back, but nonetheless informative for those who attended.

AtlantiCare stresses the need for families, especially those who are vulnerable or food insecure, to seek the medical and social services they need to be healthy.
