  • Downbeach

MARGATE - Native Philadelphian Anthony Marino will present "Riding the Rails: The Atlantic City Interurban Trolley System" 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at the Margate Historical Society Museum located at Historic City Hall, 1 S. Washington Ave.

The presentation is based on two articles he wrote for the Atlantic County Historical Society's annual Yearbook.

After graduating St. Joseph's College with a political science degree, he served two years in Eastern Venezuela with the United States Peace Corps and later earned a Ford Foundation Research Fellowship leading to a masters degree in demography at Cornell University. He became a charter member of the faculty of Stockton University when it opened in 1971 in Atlantic City.

In the 50 years since Stockton opened, Marino spent more than two decades as an executive administrator at the South Jersey Transportation Authority. He continued teaching as an adjunct professor at Stockton and served in various volunteer positions with charitable organization such as the United Way, Atlantic Human Resources, Community Mediation Services, and more recently the Atlantic County Historical Society.
