MAYS LANDING- The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office has partnered with Stockton University's Production Services Department and the Brigantine Police Department to produce a video that explains how to file an extreme risk protection order through the Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

The Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2018, also called a red flag law, provides the procedure for family members or household members who may be victims of domestic violence or in extreme risk from another person causing bodily injury to themselves or others.

The ERPO prohibits the person from possessing a firearm, ammunition or other deadly weapon. The law permits law enforcement to remove a firearm or weapon from the person in accordance with their Constitutional right to own firearms under the Second Amendment.

The video serves as an informational resource to assist the public in having a better understanding of the ERPO process. The video, which is available on the ACPO website and ACPO's YouTube channel, provides the public and law enforcement officers with a permanent resource to explain the law and how to file for a protective order.
