The biggest question people have right now about COVID-19 is when they can be vaccinated. The State of New Jersey has a priority list of who can get vaccinated depending on the availability of vaccine. To date, the state has received 500,000 doses for distribution based on Phases 1 and 2. The state has also created an online system to pre-register to receive the vaccine.

Vaccination Phases

  • Phase 1A is currently underway for health care professionals who have potential exposure to patients and infectious materials, including long-term care facilities.

  • Phase 1B will include frontline essential workers and other high risk groups.

  • Phase 1C will include other essential workers, adults 65 and over, and persons aged 16-64 with medical conditions that increase the risk for severe COVID-19 as defined by the CDC.

  • Following these phases, the general public will be eligible for vaccination in Phase 2.

The phases are dependent upon the availability of vaccine.

Atlantic County recently set up a vaccination clinic at Atlantic Cape Community College's Mays Landing Campus for medical workers. The state has also designated the Atlantic City Convention Center as a mega-site for vaccine distribution.

New Jersey has also established a Vaccine Scheduling System for the general public to pre-register to receive the vaccine.

Members of the public can reserve a spot to receive a vaccination by pre-registering at https://covidvaccine.nj.gov/  Registrants will be notified by text message or email when they can make a reservation to receive the vaccine.

The pre-registration site requires individuals to provide some information about their health to determine their priority in receiving the vaccine.

The application takes just a few minutes to fill out and the information provided will remain confidential.
