MAYS LANDING - The Atlantic Cape Community College Board of Trustees June 28 appointed Monica Kyle as its newest trustee during its monthly meeting held on the Mays Landing campus.

Kyle is currently employed as Longport's municipal clerk.

Kyle said she always had an interest in education and sought the position after she learned the board was seeking to add a new trustee. She was interviewed by the Atlantic County Board of County Commissioners during its meeting on May 17 and was subsequently appointed unanimously.

After hearing her extensive resume, Commissioner James Bertino said he felt Kyle's wealth of experience and knowledge serving the public would be a good fit for the board.

Kyle has 20 years of experience working in local government. She is a certified municipal clerk, certified registrar and has worked in various departments, including the Longport Construction Department and the Municipal Court. She is a former communication manager for the Atlantic County Utilities Authority, has worked on the South Jersey Economic Development Council and is secretary of the Atlantic County Municipal Clerks Association.

Before her employment in government, Kyle enjoyed a journalism career working with The Current newspaper group. While there, she covered municipal and county government, including the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Atlantic Cape is near and dear to my heart because it provides opportunities for many different sectors of the community, Kyle told the board.

She lives in Northfield with her husband Howard and their two daughters.

Her term expires on Nov. 1, 2026.
