MARGATE - There was a steady stream of shoppers at the Fall Community Farmers Market held in the veranda at Steve & Cookies By The Bay Sunday morning.
The weather outside was nearly frightful, but inside it was warm and inviting. It was the first fall farmers market held since the COVID-19 pandemic forced cancellation of the Thanksgiving market for the last two years.
"It's nice to have it back," said Cookie Till, who hosts the Margate Community Farmers Market in the parking lot throughout the summer months.
Vendors were selling everything from warm woolen caps and scarves, handmade soaps and jewelry. But it was the offerings for the Thanksgiving table that seemed to attract shoppers to the mart, including fresh organic produce from Reed's Organic Farm in Egg Harbor Township and Potato Homestead; dips, spreads and fresh mozzarella from Tony's Farm Table; and mushrooms from Alchemy Farm.
The Oyster Bar was hopping with shoppers stopping for a morning cocktail. Friends Kristin Cattafesta, Sue Brannigan and Alene Avetian did a little shopping for cheeses at Misty Meadows Sheep Farm and sweets from No. 7211 before imbibing on apple pie Margaritas.
