Ventnor Police charge 2 juveniles withy burglarizing vehicles

VENTNOR Police here arrested two juveniles Monday and charged them with the alleged burglary of vehicles.

It was at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 21 that a resident contacted the police after observing two males pulling on door handles of several parked cars in the 4900 block of Atlantic Avenue. The caller provided a brief description of the subjects, which was relayed to patrol units in the area.

Officer Jose Lamaine responded to the caller's residence and reviewed the homeowner's surveillance system, which provided a more detailed clothing description of the two males.

A short time later, Liriano located and stopped two male subjects matching the description on the 5700 block of Ventnor Avenue. The two were identified as 17-year-old male juveniles from Atlantic City and were taken into custody.

Officer Gabriel Henao searched of the area where the two males were walking and he found two additional vehicles that were determined to be burglarized, one of which was captured on video surveillance.

Both juveniles were charged with multiple counts of burglary, criminal attempt and conspiracy. They were lodged in Harborfields Atlantic Youth Center pending court proceedings.

According to Chief Joseph Fussner, police believe the juveniles intended to steal the vehicles.

The Ventnor City Police Department strongly suggests that all residents and visitors ensure their vehicles are locked when left parked and unattended.
