Every vote counts.
Residents have until Wednesday, Oct. 18 to register to vote in the Nov. 8 General Election.
This year, Downbeach voters will elect candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives, Atlantic County Commissioner-at-large and County Commissioner District 1.
There are no local elections, except for Longport, where voters will select a candidate to serve on the Board of Education. Only one candidate filed a petition, Clete Schwegman III.
Candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives are:
- Democrat Tim Alexander
- Republican Jeff Van Drew
- Not For Sale Candidate Anthony Parisi Sanchez
- Libertarian Michael Gallo
Atlantic County Commissioner-at-large candidates are:
- Democrat Habib Rehman
- Republican Amy Gatto
County Commissioner District 1 candidates are:
- Democrat Ernest D. Coursey Jr.
- Republican Vern Macon
The following is the timeline for the election:
Oct. 18: Last day to register to vote. Voter registration application.
Oct. 26: Sample ballots mailed to registered voters.
Oct. 29 Nov. 6: Early voting period (10 a.m. 8 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 10 a.m. 6 p.m. Sunday) at the following locations:

- Buena Vista Twp., Martin Luther King Bldg., 661 Jackson Rd., Newtonville

Nov. 1: Deadline to apply for mail-in ballot.

Nov. 7: Deadline to apply for mail-in ballot in person at the County Clerk's Office in Mays Landing is 3 p.m. the day before the election.
Nov. 8: Polls open for in-person voting 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
