VENTNOR - The date of the completion of the whale sand sculpture on the Suffolk Avenue beach has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 2 due to the forecast of rain on Saturday.
Renowned sand sculptor John Gowdy is building the 45- by 9-foot sand sculpture featuring a mother whale and her baby on the beach in front of Ventnor's Beach Patrol Headquarters. The event includes the singing of a new song written about the recent deaths of whales that have washed up on the shoreline of New Jersey.
EntertainerJohn Higbee and his Blues Street band will perform his new song, Save the Whales, at 1 p.m.. Assemblyman Don Guardian (R-2) will MC the event with U.S. Congressman Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) and NJ Sen. Vince Polistina (R-2) as guest speakers.
