  • Ventnor

The 8th annual AC Triathlon Aug. 11, 2018.

The Ventnor City Police Department Office of Emergency Management issued an advisory Friday about the Atlantic City Ironman triathlon being held Sunday, Sept. 10.

The triathlon will take place on the boardwalk in Ventnor City. There will be 2,000 race participants running on the boardwalk and on the Fishing Pier between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The boardwalk will be very congested with the race participants and volunteers. No bicycles are permitted on the boardwalk between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Use the bike lane on Atlantic Avenue instead.

Also, the fishing pier will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be one lane of northbound traffic on Atlantic Ave between Suffolk and Somerset avenues and Washington and Martindale avenues, and no parking on the beach blocks of Suffolk, Somerset, Washington, and Martindale avenues from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To avoid traffic congestion and delays use Dorset Avenue to Wellington Avenue when accessing or leaving the area.

We are warning all bicyclists and pedestrians to use extra caution during the race.
