MARGATE - The end of the summer season is quickly approaching and its time for vacationers to clean out the kitchen cupboards.

Families with a surplus of non-perishable foods, basic essentials and baby products who want to avoid lugging them back home, can donate items to the Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties Food Pantry.

JFS will eagerly accept canned and boxed goods, such as peanut butter, jelly, cereal, tuna, vegetables, pasta, soups, snacks, to keep the pantry shelves stocked. Food can be dropped off food 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the JFS Pantry located at 607 N. Jerome Ave.

From January through June 2024, the JFS Food Pantry distributed more than 62,440 pounds of food and delivered 1,667 Kosher meals to families that need food. The agency continues to provide people with non-perishable foods as well as fresh fruits and vegetables, poultry, meats, frozen products, personal products, household supplies and more.

“JFS is committed to helping people in need by providing nutritious, healthy food options,” JFS CEO Andrea Steinberg said. “By cleaning cupboards at summer’s end and donating products to the agency, JFS can continue to meet the increased food demand that exists today.”
