New Jersey woman sues McDonald's, claims she required hospitalization after eating

A New Jersey woman has filed a lawsuit against a McDonald’s franchise in Paterson, alleging that she and her child fell ill and required hospitalization after eating at the restaurant.

Yuleisi Montero, 30, claims in court documents that she and her young son became sick after consuming crispy chicken sandwiches and chicken nuggets on July 14, 2022, at the McDonald’s located in the 400 block of Broadway.

The franchise, owned by Iris W. Henderson, LLC, did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the lawsuit this week.

A spokesperson for McDonald’s corporate offices also did not respond to an email seeking comment, and an employee at the Paterson store mentioned on Thursday that no one was available to discuss the case.

The lawsuit alleges that the franchise failed to ensure the food was "fit for human consumption, free from all diseases, and kept reasonably and properly to protect patrons and invitees."

The suit seeks to recover the family's medical expenses and the costs associated with filing the lawsuit.
