Sixers Downgrade Joel Embiid's Status for Monday's Game from 'Questionable' to 'Doubtful'

  • Sixers

Joel Embiid's status for Monday's game against the Heat is now "doubtful," due to an illness.

"Doubtful" is not "out," of course. And the nature of the designation--illness, rather than a musculoskeletal issue of some kind--leaves open the possibility that Embiid could feel better before tonight's 7:30 p.m. tip.

But hopes and prayers aside, this is undoubtedly bad news for the 2-10 Sixers. The former league MVP has played in just two games due to "knee management" and a suspension.

The Sixers recalled Adem Bona from Delaware shortly after releasing Embiid's status.
