ATLANTIC CITY - The PR Council of Greater Atlantic City will kick off its 46th season Tuesday, Sept. 24, hosting new Casino Reinvestment Development Authority Executive Director Eric Scheffler as guest speaker. Scheffler, who previously served as Atlantic County Sheriff, will review the impact the CRDA has had on Atlantic City and the State of New Jersey over the last 40 years.
The luncheon, featuring a fall-themed menu, will run 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Horizon Ballroom at Resorts Hotel Atlantic City.
The only agency of its kind in the nation, CRDA facilitates economic and community development in Atlantic City by leveraging its available assets and revenues with private investment capital to support redevelopment projects throughout the city in addition to other initiatives.
Scheffler was appointed in April after 28 years in law enforcement, most recently serving two terms as Atlantic County’s elected Sheriff, and executive director of the Hope Exists Foundation.
He was a member of the Atlantic City Police Department retiring as a lieutenant. Throughout his career, Scheffler championed innovative approaches to community engagement, spearheading the creation of transformative outreach programs that targeted pressing societal challenges such as food insecurity, primary care access, substance abuse prevention, mental health support and veteran assistance
