The National Weather Service has announced a Coastal Flood Advisory for South Jersey coastal areas through Friday afternoon, Sept. 20.
The forecast calls for increasingly severe coastal flooding conditions through the next four high-tide cycles. A full moon earlier this week, strong northeast winds and rain will combine to cause “minor” coastal flooding over the next two days.
While flooding will not be continuous, expect. minor flooding during the high tide periods, which may require partial or full road closures.
Water levels are predicted to peak at 8 p.m. Wednesday, 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday.
The NWS predicts a water levels between 6.1 and 6.9 feet on the mean low water scale.
Residents should be prepared to move vehicles to higher ground, honor all police postings and traffic detours and be mindful that driving through tidal flood waters could damage your vehicle. Be courteous to residents who live in low-lying areas. Driving through flood waters could create wakes that can damage homes.
