Absecon father of two fatally struck in Pleasantville

  • Atlantic County

An Absecon man died after he was struck by a vehicle Friday night.

Patrick Pollard Sr., 34, was hit as he walked in the intersection of the Black Horse Pike and Lyons Court in Pleasantville, Police Chief Stacey Schlachter said.

Meghan Scanlon, 42, of Atlantic City, was driving east on the pike when she struck Pollard, according to the report.

Pollard was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scanlon and her passenger, Brian Reeder, remained at the scene, where the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Pleasantville Fire Department, and Tricare and AtlantiCare Medics responded and assisted.

The area was closed for about three hours.

No summonses have been issued at this time. The crash is under investigation by Lt. Luz Gresham.

Pollard leaves behind two sons, according to a GoFundMe started by Pollard's mother.

She said funds would go toward his funeral and transporting him to Tappahannock, Va., with the remainder left to help his sons.

Anyone with additional information about the crash is asked to call Pleasantville police at 609-641-6100 or click to send an email
