Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore programs set for April

Provided/Valerie Braunstein and Tina Serota host a JFS Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore table at the Ventnor Farmer's Market on June 16 with friendly pup Izzy. Attendees picked up information about the Village, JFS programs and services and volunteer opportunities.

MARGATE Spring into April and enjoy interactive, entertaining and informative virtual and in-person programs and activities offered through The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore at Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties.

Positivity Project: Morning Refresh, Thursday, April 4, 10:30 a.m.

Explore positivity with JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota. Learn ways to boost wellness mind, body, and soul. Topics include self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation, and resiliency. This program is via Zoom and a link will be emailed. RSVP by April 1.

Women's Coffee & Conversation Reframing Aging Together, Monday, April 8 10:30 a.m.

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota, Bratton Law Group's Jen Hand, Katz JCC's Bridget Giblin, Angelic Health's Carolyn Johnson Peterson, Alzheimer's Association's Mary Beth Lewis, and UMC's Michele Musto as they host monthly professional speakers on issues that impact a woman's ability to live her best life. In April, the topic will focus on Reframing Aging Through a Positive Lens. Stockton University's SCOSA Senior Operations Specialist and Adjunct Faculty Member in Gerontology Gina Maguire will discuss how to create a meaningful life while finding purpose and passion, building strong relationships, and giving back to the community. Memory Connections, Monday, April 8, 1-2:30 p.m.

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota, Alzheimer's Association's Mary Beth Lewis, Angelic Health's Carolyn Johnson Peterson, Bratton Law Group's Jen Hand, UMC's Michele Musto, and Katz JCC's Bridget Giblin for a gathering of caregivers of loved ones with dementia and the person living with the disease. Caregivers will participate in a support group led by a trained professional while their loved one will enjoy a socialization activity. Light refreshments will be served. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 N. Jerome Ave. RSVP by April 3.

Village Film Society, Tuesday, April 9, 10:30 a.m.

Join Village film enthusiast and historic cinema Buff Tom Celandine and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a discussion about the Oscar award-winning movie, "Oppenheimer." The star-studded film follows the appointment of Physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer by Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves, Jr. to work on a top-secret Manhattan Project during WWII. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb and when their work comes to fruition, they witness the world's first nuclear explosion, forever changing their lives and the course of history. The movie can be viewed on Peacock, Prime Video, and Apple TV or is available on DVD at the Ventnor and Margate libraries. This program is via Zoom and a link will be emailed. RSVP by April 4.

Mahjong and Canasta Brunch, Wednesday, April 10, 11 a.m.

Join friends and neighbors for a delightful afternoon of strategic game play, vibrant conversations and a delectable brunch. This program takes place at the Katz JCC Auditorium, 501 N. Jerome Ave. and provides a perfect day of socializing, competition and fun. Cost is $20 for Village and JCC members and $23 for non-members. Memoir Workshop, Friday, April 12, 10:30 a.m. 

Experience the thrill of capturing life's adventures, history, and ancestry with the Memoir Workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University Director of Certificate Program in Writing and Publishing, Harriet Levin Millan. Lunch Around Town, Monday, April 15, noon-1:30 p.m.

Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends while supporting a local restaurant. This month, we'll dine at the Water Dog Smoke House, located at 7319 Ventnor Ave. in Ventnor. Come prepared for good food and conversation. Order off the menu and pay individually. RSVP by April 11.

Memory Café: Ocean City, Tuesday, April 30, 10:30 a.m.-noon

Caregivers and their loved ones living with Dementia are invited to join Village and UMC representatives in a Dementia friendly space. Experience creativity and social connections through art, music, gentle movements, and more. Attend in-person at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave. in Ocean City. RSVP by April 24.
