Pleasantville woman takes a spin on 'Wheel of Fortune'

  • Atlantic County

Diane Epps started out her appearance on "Wheel of Fortune" Thursday telling the story of how she once had champagne with Lena Horne when she was the entertainment manager at the Claridge Casino Hotel.

But how did the Pleasantville woman end the episode?

Here's your spoiler warning, if you haven't seen the episode

Here it comes.

You've been warned ...

Champagne played a role again, as Epps clinked glasses in a victory toast with Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White, celebrating her $63,750 win.

In between, the happy retiree bested her two competitors by banking $23,750 on the puzzles.

That included impressing Seacrest by solving the "food & drink" puzzle with just "s-d- d-sh -- --st-" showing.

Epps had only $700 for placing the H, in "side dish of pasta," but there was more.

This episode was titled "Dream Destinations," after all.

The puzzle came with a trip to Italy's Amalfi Coast, adding the $8,500 value to her total.

"Have you ever been to Italy?" Seacrest asked her.

"No."

"Do you like pasta?" he asked.

"Yes," she replied, coyly adding, "and wine."

There was little doubt from then on that Epps would be on her way to the bonus round.

Once there, she first introduced Seacrest to "my honey, Money," as her partner explained his name is "because I like money in my pocket."

"Well, she has a lot of it over here in her pocket," Seacrest replied.

Epps predicted she would add more.

With the wild card from her earlier win, she was able to guess an extra consonant on the "people" phrase.

She chose a C, which proved perfect in easily guessing "Happy Couple," even before the countdown started.

That added $40,000 to her night.

But Epps is not done.

She will be back on Friday's episode as the last of "Spring Forward Week," which brings the winner back.
