Village by the Shore announces March programs

MARGATE - The Lynn Kramer Village by the Shore at Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May Counties has announced programs for the month of March. Plan to invite friends, family, and neighbors to participate in these programs.

Positivity Project: Morning Refresh, Thursday, March 7, 10:30 a.m.

Explore positivity with JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota. Learn ways to boost wellness, mind, body and soul. Topics include self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation and resiliency. This program is via Zoom and a link will be emailed. RSVP by March 4.

Memoir Workshop, Friday, March 8, 10:30 a.m. - noon

Experience the thrill of capturing life's adventures, history, and ancestry with the Memoir Workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University Director of Certificate Program in Writing and Publishing, Harriet Levin Millan. A laptop or pen and paper needed for the workshop. This program is via Zoom and a link will be emailed. RSVP by March 5.

Women's Coffee & Conversation Reframing Aging Together, Monday, March 11, 10:30 a.m.

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota, Bratton Law Group's Jen Hand, JCC's Bridget Giblin, Angelic Health's Carolyn Johnson Peterson, Alzheimer's Association's Mary Beth Lewis, and UMC's Michele Ercolani Musto as they host monthly professional speakers on issues that impact a woman's ability to live her best life. In March, the topic will focus on Asset Protection & Estate Planning for Women. Bratton Law Group Senior Associate Attorney Brittany Tedesco will discuss the ins and outs of elder law, care and estate planning for yourself, spouse and older adult children. Learn how to protect yourself, your interests, family and assets so you are ready for the future. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 North Jerome Avenue, Margate. RSVP by March 7.

Memory Connections, Monday, March 11, 1-2:30 p.m.

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota, Alzheimer's Association's Mary Beth Lewis, Angelic Health's Carolyn Johnson Peterson, Bratton Law Group's Jen Hand, UMC's Michele Ercolani Musto, and JCC's Bridget Giblin for a gathering of Caregivers of loved ones with Dementia and the person living with the disease. Caregivers will participate in a support group led by a trained professional while their loved one with Dementia will enjoy a socialization activity. Light refreshments will be served. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 N. Jerome Ave., Margate. RSVP by March 6.

Village Film Society, Tuesday, March 12, 10:30 a.m.

Join Village Film Enthusiast and Historic Cinematic Buff Tom Celandine and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a discussion about the movie, Rustin, starring Chris Rock, Audra McDonald and Colman Domingo who was nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award. This is a true story about Bayard Rustin, an advisor to Martin Luther King, Jr., and architect of the historic 1963 March on Washington. While he dedicated his life to the quest for racial equality, human rights and worldwide democracy, as an openly gay black man, he was all but erased from the history of the Civil Rights Movement he helped to build. The movie can be viewed on Netflix. RSVP by March 4.

Mahjong and Canasta Brunch, Wednesday, March 13, 11 a.m.

Join friends and neighbors for a delightful afternoon of strategic game play, vibrant conversations and a delectable brunch. This program, which takes place at the Katz JCC Auditorium, 501 N. Jerome Ave. in Margate, provides a perfect day of socializing, competition and fun. Cost: $20 for Village and JCC members and $23 for non-members. Throwback Thursday: Orthodox Synagogues in Atlantic City and Beyond, Thursday, March 14, 10:30 a.m. to noon

Join Josh Cutler, executive director, Board of Jewish Education of Atlantic and Cape May Counties, as he takes attendees on a tour of the rich Jewish history of Orthodox Synagogues in Atlantic City and beyond. You'll enjoy an interactive presentation packed with nostalgic stories and photographs. Light refreshments will be served. Attend in-person at the Katz JCC Boardroom, 501 N. Jerome Ave. in Margate. Lunch Around Town, Friday, March 15, 12-1:30 p.m.

Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends while supporting a local restaurant. This month, we'll dine at La Cucina Ristorante, located at 1205 Tilton Road in Northfield. Come prepared for good food and conversation. Order off the menu and pay individually. RSVP by March 8.

Join Village Community Specialist Tina Serota as she welcomes Carolyn Rush, a candidate for New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District, at our first candidate's forum. You'll hear where she stands on matters that affect everyday lives and the big issues we face as a nation. Q&A session follows. Light refreshments will be served. Memory Café: Ocean City, Tuesday, March 26, 10:30 a.m. - noon

Caregivers are invited to join Village and UMC representatives in a Dementia friendly space. Experience creativity and social connections through art, music, gentle movements, and more. Attend in-person at the Ocean City Free Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave. in Ocean City. RSVP by March 20.
