ACUA revamps 'Drive Electric Week' event

  • Atlantic County

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - First responders, including police, firefighters, EMTs and Office of Emergency Management staff, along with electric vehicle drivers, are invited to attend this year’s ACUA National Drive Electric Week event, 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at the ACUA Environmental Park, 6700 Delilah Road.

The EV Safety Training program is different from past events and will provide information about how to safely respond to electric vehicle emergencies.

The training will offer critical information to help prepare drivers and responders in the event of an accident or emergency involving an electric vehicle. Adapting response plans through training and experience is critical for first responders. As sales of electric and hybrid vehicles increase, first responders must continue to modify tactics to properly respond to incidents as well as protect themselves and their crews.

There’s no cost to attend, and the training will be even more valuable with a wide variety of vehicles on display.

Not only will the training provide information about responding to emergencies, the ACUA will provide the opportunity to view and learn about different makes and models of EVs.
