Absecon Lighthouse will be open for tours during spring break.

ATLANTIC CITY - Looking for something fun and fit to do with the kids on spring break? Absecon Lighthouse, which is normally closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, will be open daily for spring break through Monday, April 29.

The last climb is at 3:30 p.m. Go to www.abseconlighthouse.org and print a special coupon for $1 off admission when you climb. The museum, grounds, and parking are all free.

Admission to climb the 228 steps to the top is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for children 4-12, and $3 for Atlantic City residents. Active military are invited to climb for free. Dogs on leashes are welcome to tour the grounds and museum.

First lit in 1857, Absecon Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in
New Jersey and the third tallest in the country. It is the oldest man-made structure in Atlantic City, boasts a first-order Fresnel lens still in place at the top, and offers fabulous views of Atlantic City and Brigantine.

Absecon Lighthouse is a state-owned historic property administered by the non-profit Inlet Public/Private Association. Located at 31 S. Rhode Island Ave., the lighthouse receives a general operating support grant from the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of Cultural Affairs in the Department of State.

Normal business hours will resume on Thursday, May 2, with the lighthouse being open Thursdays through Mondays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
