Atlantic/Cape May court administrator inducted into Warren E. Burger Society

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. Howard H. Berchtold Jr., trial court administrator for the Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage, was inducted into the National Center for State Courts Warren E. Burger Society, Nov. 21 in Washington, D.C.

The society honors individuals who use their time, talents and support for state court systems. It is named for former Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, who helped found the organization in 1971.

Howard Berchtold

Berchtold, the highest-ranking court official in Atlantic and Cape May counties, oversees all court operations, including case coordination, finance, human resources, information systems, probation services, jury utilization, facilities, records and community outreach. He has worked in the court system for 38 years.

Berchtold lives in South Egg Harbor and has served on numerous regional and national organizations, including the National Association for Court Management, Mid-Atlantic Association for Court Management, which he led, and NCSC's Institute for Court Management Advisory Committee.

The National Center for State Courts of Williamsburg, Virginia, works to improve the administration of justice through leadership and service. The organization provide education, training, technology, management and research services to the nation's court systems.
