Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves will be a national telecast, but it will still have a familiar feeling for Phillies fans.
NBC announced that the Sunday Night Baseball telecast between the Braves and Phillies is going to include John Kruk as one of the two color commentators. C.J. Nitkowski — who pitched for a decade in the majors — will be the other alongside play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti.
This is the first season that NBC has taken over Sunday Night Baseball, following a long run by ESPN. Kruk was a full-time color commentator for ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball coverage alongside Dan Shulman from 2013-2016.
Benetti — who is the lead announcer for the Detroit Tigers and has done national work for other networks previously — is NBC's play-by-player. However, the network opted not to bring in a full-time color commentator. Instead, each game includes two color commentators, one with ties to each team, hence Kruk and Nitkowski, who has been on Braves local broadcasts since 2024.
In addition to Kruk and Nitkowski, Anthony Rizzo will also "provide 'Inside the Pitch' commentary from the batter’s perspective during the game." Rizzo — a three-time Gold Glover — is also going to be on the pregame show with Ahmed Fareed.
Sunday Night Baseball this week will air on Peacock and NBC Sports Network, with NBA season still taking precedent on NBC.
