Join Thoughts from the Bookshelf Facilitator Pat Goldstein and Village Community Specialist Tina Serota for a book club gathering to discuss the novel, “Necessary Trouble: Growing Up at Mid-Century,” by NYT bestselling author Drew Gilpin Faust. The book focuses on a conservative Southern family with the contradictions of a privileged upbringing against the backdrop of racial segregation, evolving social norms, and becoming an activist for Civil Rights. In addition, discuss the novel, “In the Mighty Red,” by Pulitzer Prize winning author Louise Erdrich. The book tells the story of love, spiritual yearnings and the tragic impact of natural forces of ordinary people living on beet farms in North Dakota’s Red River Valley.
