Open auditions this weekend for summer theater production in Margate

  • Arts and Entertainment

MARGATE - Fool Moon Theatre Company is holding open auditions for the five-time, Tony Award-winning meta-musical “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a loving parody of the 1920s American musical comedy genre.

The Jazz-Age score is by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison, and the clever book is by Bob Martin and Don McKellar. This fictional musical is about the intrigue surrounding a soon-to-be-wed oil tycoon and a Broadway starlet.

Men and women, 18 years and older, should be prepared to sing an audition song with their own backing track. Performers will be asked to read from sides, show physical comedic ability and movement, as well as dance skills. Tap dancing males are needed. This is a fun, high-energy show.

Auditions will be held 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18 and 1-4 p.m. Sunday, April 19 at the Margate Community Church, 8900 Ventnor Ave.

Performance dates are July 17-19 and 24-26. Actors must be available for all performances.
