Atlantic City Electric has been named Rowan College of South Jersey Business Partner of the Year in recognition of the company’s sustained commitment to workforce development, education, and community investment across South Jersey.
The recognition reflects Atlantic City Electric’s partnership with RCSJ, the Exelon Foundation, and the National Energy Education Development Project through ACE‑Celerate!, a summer camp program that provides students with hands‑on learning experiences and exposure to careers in energy, engineering and other STEM‑related fields. Since launching the partnership in 2024, Atlantic City Electric and RCSJ have worked together to help more than 250 students build skills that align with the region’s growing demand for a skilled, diverse workforce.
“Strong partnerships with institutions like Rowan College of South Jersey are essential to building pathways to life-changing opportunities and supporting the long‑term success of our communities,” said Tyler Anthony, president and CEO of Pepco Holdings, which includes Atlantic City Electric. “We’re proud to be recognized by RCSJ and even more proud of the impact this collaboration is having on students as they explore future careers and gain real‑world experience.”
Building on the success of the program, Atlantic City Electric announced plans to extend ACE‑Celerate! for an additional year beyond its initial three-year commitment, ensuring more students will have access to hands‑on learning experiences and exposure to careers in energy, engineering, and other STEM‑related fields.
Through ACE‑Celerate!, students participate in interactive programming that connects classroom learning with practical application, while gaining insight into the skills needed for careers that support New Jersey’s evolving energy landscape. The program reflects Atlantic City Electric’s broader commitment to investing in education, workforce readiness, and economic mobility throughout its service area.
"Atlantic City Electric exemplifies what it means to be a true community partner. Their unwavering commitment to workforce development, educational opportunity, and regional economic growth has made a lasting impact on our students and the communities we serve," RCSJ President Brenden Rickards said.
ACE-Celerate! builds on Atlantic City Electric’s broader commitment to workforce readiness and economic development. Earlier this month, the company joined with the Cumberland-Salem-Cape May Workforce Development Board to launch South Jersey Get Into Energy, a new apprenticeship program designed to prepare residents for careers in the high‑demand HVAC field. The program is the first free HVAC apprenticeship offered in South Jersey and combines classroom instruction with on‑the‑job training and employment commitments for program graduates.
Atlantic City Electric was recognized at RCSJ’s Partner Recognition and Awards Reception on April 16, where students involved in the program helped highlight the partnership and its impact on the community.
