A Pennsylvania man is jailed in a Brigantine burglary after he allegedly ditched a stolen handgun.
Kevin Diluzio, 39, of Punxsutawney, Pa., is accused of breaking into a home in the 200 block of East Brigantine Avenue.
The suspect had fled by time officers arrived to the call early Tuesday morning, according to police.
Patrol officers requested drone assistance from an unnamed neighboring agency, but none was available at the time, according to the report.
While investigators were processing the scene, dispatch received a report of a suspicious man on a porch in the area of Vardon Circle, police said.
Diluzio was arrested without incident. Police then found a stolen handgun discarded nearby along with other stolen property.
Several additional crime scenes were found throughout the neighborhood, with the alleged fruits of those crimes found in multiple yards.
Diluzio already had a busy few days in Atlantic County, according to multiple charges.
He was even jailed briefly on charges of burglary, theft, criminal trespass and possession of burglary tools April 27 out of out of Ventnor. Diluzio was released last Friday without a detention hearing, court records show.
Before that, he was charged on summonses in similar crimes out of Hammonton and Franklin Township.
He is now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting a detention hearing set for Monday.
Meanwhile, Brigantine police are working to identify more victims, and return property. The investigation has found several other homes and vehicles were entered by Diluzio.
Residents in the areas of Eighth Street North, Sixth Street North, Quay Boulevard, Vardon Road and surrounding neighborhoods are asked to contact the Brigantine Police Detective Bureau if they have surveillance footage or information that could help in the investigation.
